PORTLAND2016: Biennial of Contemporary Art

I’m a high-end photo retoucher specializing in beauty, portrait & fashion. Flaws Becomes Art is an ongoing personal project of mine which focuses on the retouching process and transformation. I use Photoshop as a tool to apply techniques that have been used in darkrooms since the beginning of photography. I build layers on top of a photo dodging & burning (lightening & darkening) small areas until light distribution on a photo becomes even and free of distractions. I create an art piece by removing the base photograph leaving behind only dodge & burn layers which I then colorize.

JULY 9 — SEPTEMBER 18

These dodge & burn art pieces along with my personal photography are currently being exhibited as part of the PORTLAND2016 BIENNIAL OF CONTEMPORARY ART. Established in 2010, the Portland Biennial is a major survey of Oregon artists who are defining and advancing the state’s contemporary arts landscape. Building upon the success of its predecessors, the Portland2016 Biennial is a two-month celebration of the here and now that showcases 34 artists at 25 partner venues in 11 communities across the state – the largest and most comprehensive survey of Oregon art, ever. Curated by Michelle Grabner, Presented by Disjecta Contemporary Art Center
